Although I started my business in 2010, it was in September 2023 that I decided to devote myself fully to my web business, focusing on hosting, maintenance and specialised creation explicitly on WordPress. So 2024 is the first full year for the «LRob» you know today. So, what's the balance sheet like? Spoiler: The results are very encouraging!

New features and improvements for 2024

2024 saw a number of service improvements at LRob.

Here are a few key events:

And much more besides.

Hosting business 2024

The WordPress hosting business is taking off! Many of you have recommended LRob, and new resellers and well-motivated web agencies are making the figures explode!

Hosted sites

In 2024 we will have leapt from 89 to 169 domains hosted. An increase of +90% (almost x2)!

Including the sub-domains, there are a total of 217 sites who are hosted.

This also takes into account the one and only customer lost this year.

Resellers

In 2024, we welcomed 8 retailers, i.e. +400% increase!

Webmaster 2024 activity

LRob is much more than just a web host: we also provide webmastering services, as well as design, redesign and other services directly on your sites. We can respond to any situation! This represents more than half of our turnover.

  • 10 external sites repaired post-piracy
  • 6 web redesigns
  • 2 website creations

Technical figures for 2024

Here are a few facts and figures that will interest the geekiest among you.

  • Backups: 20TB
  • Upload: Approximately 60TB/year
  • Average CPU usage: 15%
  • 131,000 hack attempts blocked and reported via AbuseIPDB in 3 months, or 43,700 a month! This figure is set to rise to over 500,000 by 2025.

Attendance at the LRob 2024 site

Visits to the site jumped from +400% (x5), all the counters are in the green.

This can be attributed to news articles and LinkedIn posts.

Finance & accounting 2024

Sales figures

The 2024 turnover is higher than 55 000€ (including almost €10,000 via the LRob portal in its first year)

In 2023, the first incomplete year, sales amounted to almost €15,000, which was still a reasonable figure for a start-up operating for only a few months.

Taxes

The URSSAF and Tax total is close to 14 000€.

Business expenses

These costs are not deductible from turnover for auto-entrepreneurs.

The costs cover servers, software tools and telecommunications.

Amount: approx. 5 500€.

Net profit

Salary after tax and expenses :

I've still got this year to live on: 35 600€ (€2,970/month)

While this is a good figure for a first year, it should be remembered that it required weeks of work well in excess of 35 hours.

Targets, forecasts and news for 2025

Objectives

A number of objectives and guidelines have been set:

  • Gradually tilt the balance so that by 2025, the majority of creations/refurbishments will be accommodation.
  • Continue to provide a high quality service and satisfy our happy customers!
  • Make the same figure or better
  • Significantly reduce the number of hours worked per week.

Forecasts

  • Turnover is expected to increase by at least +25%, taking pro costs to over €8,000 a year.
  • Hiring or a change of legal form could take place between 2026 and 2027.
  • A new shared server should be available in the first half of the year.
  • Backups are expected to reach 30 to 40 TB.

New products coming soon (or already in place)

From 14 January, a new telephone number (0221 827 827) for support! Behind the scenes, it's a complete VOIP switchboard, which allows you to call in future employees, manage recorded messages, set opening times and so on. So much more versatile, so we can respond to you better in all circumstances.

For the rest, we're going to consolidate our offers and make as much noise as possible, preaching the good word in an attempt to accommodate the whole world!

Conclusions

My standard of living has risen slightly compared with my last permanent contract, which for a first full year is a great achievement.

The growth is clear, unambiguous and unequivocal. The company is viable.

Although the hosting business is increasing dramatically, it's still a minority compared to the creative/refreshing and one-off work, and I'd like to reverse this trend.

I'm also working well over 35 hours at the moment and I'd like to try and reduce the number of hours.

This year has seen some fantastic collaborations. Supporting your projects is an honour and a pleasure!

Thank you all, and I look forward to continuing the good work with you in 2025!

I wish you all the best for the New Year and all the success you deserve!
